Chevelon
Lake Campground is situated deep into Sitgreaves
National Forest. The road is slow and takes at least an
hour in the best conditions from Woods Canyon Lake. The
reward is fantastic fishing and relative solitude. If
you don't mind hiking, the 3/4 mile hike to the lake is
steep but well marked. Chevelon Canyon was created by
impounding the waters of Chevelon Creek. Both Woods Canyon
                        Lake and Willow Springs Lake
drain into the creek and help fill Chevelon. There is
a small boat dock on the north end of Chevelon Lake.
                      There
is a visitor center at the intersection of S.R. 260 and Rim Road
on the south side of the road as you approach the turnoff to Woods
                Canyon Lake.
              There
is no water at the campground.
