Seven
miles of rubber leg hiking down
the north rim of the Grand
Canyon will bring you to Cottonwood Camp Campground,
which sits next to Bright Angel Creek. As you hike in you
will pass several features including Roaring Springs, the
origin of Bright Angel Creek. If fishing is your game, both
rainbow and brown trout occupy the creek that eventually empties
into the Colorado River. Remember that hiking/backpacking
into the Grand Canyon requires a backcountry permit. You can
get permit information here:
http://www.nps.gov/grca/backcountry/permit_procedures.htm
If
you plan on hiking farther down into the canyon you will
pass Ribbon Falls 1.5 miles past the campground. Eventually
you will reach Phantom Ranch and the Colorado River.
